When I get to the part where I'm trying to put the letter puzzle together, the pieces may rotate once when double clicked but not more than once

Hmm, I am not familiar with the gameplay mechanics of this game, but if you think that it is a technical issue. The first step would be to reinstall the game. Reinstalling is a great way to make sure that your issue is not caused by some file that has been corrupted or removed.
