If you don't have WinRAR, go here
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
and choose your bit (32 or 64) up at the top of the page.

If anyone using Windows 7 (like me) or Windows Vista gets a 3ds Max 9 crash or freeze when the welcome screen shows up, download the Autodesk 3ds Max 9 service pack 2.

Scroll down a bit, choose what language you want it to be in, and choose what bit (32 or 64) depending on what bit your 3ds Max 9 version is.
