Wip - Cygnus X

The town will be a space station (inspired by the platforms on various levels of Starcraft). You'll be able to see the planet it's orbiting in addition to a starscape - underneath the station. I've sketched out the terrain in max and I'll post pics as soon as I'm happy with the textures.
The dungeons will consist of landscapes from the planet below, in which you'll have to battle invading aliens that are trying to take over the good people of Cygnus-X. You'll meet some hostile native fauna along the way of course. So you'll be teleporting to the planet for the dirty work.
I intend to overwrite the items.dat so that only Sci-Fi weapons and armor are included, plus new UI art.
I'll definitely make some new alien-type monsters but many of Fate's monsters are adaptable to such a realm as well.
Any suggestions are more than welcome.

You can take it as inspiration for your own armor sets; astronaut stuff, etc.
This one will be included in my Tron mod with the entire set of armors and disc weapons, including The Grid realm, maybe.

But I haven't gotten to the armors yet and I won't for a while. I'm working on some finer points of envelope editing and animation technique - I just did a tutorial on the curve editor to make acceleration vectors for animations so they don't look stiff and square, etc., etc.
As far as this mod goes, I'm going to concentrate on monsters for a long time, since they're the most complicated part. After I have a good collection of them, it'll be easy to make a bunch of items and a town realm.

These aren’t my original models - years ago I bought this kit on turbosquid, planning to use it in Future Fate. I thought they were lost when my laptop was stolen, but yesterday I visited my old turbosquid account – had to get the password resent – and lo and behold, there was this download sitting in my account!
These guys have issues since they were made in Max 4 – flipped faces all over the place, which confuse the Scanline Renderer. (That’s why some of the pics have some weirdness going on.) And the animations are so simplistic that they’re worthless. On the plus side, the textures are well-done, they are all properly rigged, and the face-counts are low, so they can be made Fate-friendly without too much work.
I tested one in the game already – remapped it with a two-sided PNG version of its JPG texture. (Remapping 2-sided is the easiest way to deal with random flipped faces.) Sized it down, gave it an idle animation and plugged it into Ekbatan. Worked like charm, much to my satisfaction!
I still don’t know what the plot of this realm is going to be, but these characters are giving me some ideas…

You aren't the only one who hopes he hasn't left us. He tends to work and post profusely but sporadically. Hopefully he will return before he forgets what he was doing!
