***issue Resolved** Games App Not Working After Update Beta (Oct 6 2011)

Instructions for installation
1) Download and run the installer from http://download.wild...nsole-Beta2.exe
Note: For XP users please run the installer with an administrator account
2) Start the Games App the same way you normally do.
When you start the Beta Games App it will offer to update you to the "Live" Games App - you need to click "No" when asked:
"There is an update available. Would you like to receive it?"
(If you click yes, your Games App will be updated and returned to the latest non-Beta version.)
What to Expect
The issue we are trying to track down is why Games App is failing to launch properly. We hope that Games App launches properly for you and you can download and play games but if Games App fails to launch we would like your logs.
How to gather logs
1) Kill the running Games App process:
Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
Click the Processes tab
Find and click the GamesConsole-wt.exe or GameConsole-wt.exe *32
Confirm ending the process
Click End Process
2) Go to Start -> then open either My Computer or Control Panel
3) In the ‘address bar’ on top (not the search bar), please copy/paste the following into the field and hit enter
%ProgramData%\WildTangent\Logs
Please send any log starting with GameConsole to:
pcbeta.feedback@wildtangent.com
We thank you so much for your help and participation, the next time you run Games App accept the update and you'll be reverted back to the live build.

Thanks for your feedback! We're looking into it-
Just to make sure we understand your situation: Does the <non-Beta> Games App have this error for you also?
Can you try these additional two tests to try different ways to install the curently released live Games App, and let us know if they fail the same way?
This installer: BasicInstaller
And from the website link WebSiteInstaller
Thanks!

I get an error again, as follows:... BasicInstaller
It seems to run as it should. I took a screenshot of the result but won't post it unless you feel it necessary.... WebSiteInstaller

it looks like your problem is that the Beta installer needs to run with administrative rights. Are you running as a limited user in XP? If so, perhaps you could try running the Beta as administrator?
We'll amend the installation instructions to include running the Beta installer as administrator.
Thanks,

Since I'm the sole user of this system, I've never run it in anything other than with full Admin rights ...... the Beta installer needs to run with administrative rights. ...
[Added]
I just checked User Accounts in the Control Panel and verified that I am listed as the Computer administrator.

After downloading the beta2 test file, Wildtangent continued to fail in exact same manner as before. I right click on the Icon, left click on the "open." Small circle spins for a brief moment, then nothing. So I tried uninstalling and running the beta2 download, as I expected that was useless. I reinstalled WildTangent and run the Beta2 download again... same result. Sorry

Is there something more I can do here? I even re installed the Games App to be sure I had the latest version, then installed the Beta version again.

We expect to update the Beta tomorrow morning. We're just doing a quick QA pass to help ensure there are no surprises in the build tomorrow.
Thanks,

When I try to download from the console I get the "This page cannot be displayed" connection error. When I try from IE9 I get the Server Error "404 - File or Directory not found".
Edit: - I've just checked some other external links in the forum at random and they all work, so I'm pretty sure the link is definitely broke (or doesn't like me

Downloaded newest file and go the same error.... We have released a new beta build! Please download and run the installer ...
I was able to save off the Dr. Watson log this time though if that would help. I have attached it here though I had to add a ".txt" to the end to be able to attach it.

If you want to hold my hand and guide me to the log, I would send it to you.

The information you need is posted above. I will copy the pertinent pieces here for you:... If you want to hold my hand and guide me to the log, I would send it to you.
... Please send logs from %ProgramData%\WildTangent\Logs to the following email address:
pcbeta.feedback@wildtangent.com ...
- Open Windows Explorer and copy and paste the first bold text above (folder) into the address bar,
- You should see one or more files. Since I have yet to see it either, I don't know what you should find,
- Create an email to go to the second bold text (email address) above and attach all the files you find in the above folder,
- Send the email.
If you do not find the folder, then the program did not work and that should also be reported.
Hope that helped.
