Rogue Scimitar: a lower weapon from Heavenly Sword
Sword of Ancients: a fantasy sword.
Anduril: the kingly ultimate sword of Aragorn
Blade of Chaos: the blades given to Kratos by Aires in God of War; adds dualwield
Blade of Athena: the blades given to Kratos by Athena in God of War; adds dualwield, firedmg
Flamesword: an original sword of mine, a purely elemental sword with large fire damage
Icesword: same as the firesword but ice damage
Valdris: a fantasy sword by Kit Rae; adds attack
Ultima Sword: the ultimate sword of cloud from ff7; adds Criticalstrike

very nice job maestro, eventhough the valdris was proposed by me! ah!! how could you get that wrong??? :agreement: lol just kidding, it's a drop in a bucket, but anyway it is a cool sword but it's the only one which on the right hand collapses like a marshmallow so that your thumb can go right through it (mmm do marshmallows collapse?)
Anyway it's a very nice work as always. I was a bit reluctant about the looks of the Ultima and Fierce deity swords, but in-game they look much better than in the screenshots. The two colours on the deity sword is a detail that didn't catch my eye until I played the mod

whoops that was a total typo, it was supposed to be minifig on anduril, you on valdris, I need to proofread my stuff esp after all those embarrassing typos in my japanese town thread.
the ultima and fierce deity were the hardest to do because it was impossible to find decent pics of them. the ultima was a really low-detail sword to begin with but it was a lot better after jacktwisted retextured it. the fierce deity had literally no pics so the dual color actually came from the official statue that was made of it. the sword was just so unusual I had to make it. I like really unusual swords, only wish it were possible to make it shoot the huge blasts of energy.

It's finally out and ready! I might sound like I'm repeating myself from the other thread, but well done on these awesome swords! I look forward to finding one in the dungeons as I venture onward.

ive downloaded and cant figure out what to do do i just add it to my item list at the bottom

I would recommend using modman, read the sticky in the mod support forum. Modman is far superior to doing it manually because then you can restore everything instantly as opposed to manual where you will inevitably make mistakes and have no idea where, leaving you to constantly have to start from scratch.

Update v1.1 new textures & dd fix

I made a few changes to improve some of the textures. also I failed to mention that the deeper.dat in the mod root, is a replacement for items.dat with deeper stats. it had an error in it and is now working perfectly.
download in the first post.

did you also fix this teeny weeny problem too? I'm not sure it has to do with your mod though because as you can see the positioning of the sword is incorrect only in the basic character mesh, on the other hand the positioning of the weapon is as it's should be

Update v1.2 fixed valdris

Ok the pivot is fixed on the valdris. just keep finding the bugs, I don't think I've yet released a mod without them, i'm glad you guys don't mind finding my errors, lol.
j3st3r, yeah the heavenly is my fav I think sony is really big on making eye candy, the screens from that game looked amazing.
I added rapidshare and esnips to the dls.

what are the lower and deeper .dat files in your mod folder for?

oh right I forgot to put a note about that in the first post but it's in the mod.dat. deeper.dat is the items.dat with deeper stats and the lower.dat is the original items.dat for switching back. to use the deeper stats, you need to make a copy of deeper.dat, rename it items.dat and overwrite items/items.dat. to switch back you just need to do the same with lower.dat.

OK I started playing with these in earnest. The Rogue Scimitar and Sword of Ancients are excellent, and I love the reach of Anduril - it's almost like using a spell, but it's a sword!

Also, I love the ghost images that the Flamesword and Icesword make as you swing them around.

One problem with the Blade of Chaos and Blade of Athena, however. Their reach is apparently too short to bust up urns, crates etc. For instance, look at a crate from a distance then left click on it. The char will walk up and swing, but miss every time. You have to inch your way a little closer in order to bust them up. No problem fighting melee enemies, however, as they tend to get right in your face.

Also, two questions about the Blade of Athena: shouldn't it have some fire damage just as a matter of principle? And since it's a variation of the Blade of Chaos, does it have to be all fire and no sword? Or is it actually a variation on the Flamesword? I'm just thinking that it would be cool to see some of the metal in the midst of the fire.



Oh, and BTW the smoke coming off the top of the Flame Sword is EFFING BRILLIANT!!!!

Yes, yes, but I was talking about the Blade of Athena. The Flame Sword is perfect!

The only reason I mention it is that in maestro's splash screen, you CAN see the metal through the fire, but for some reason, I'm not getting it - I get all fire, as I posted in my pic.

It's admittedly a rather small point.

Edited to add: since the Blade of Chaos looks so much like a glorified meat cleaver, it would be fun to turn Bartelby into a monster: spatter some blood on his shirt and have him wield the Blade of Chaos. Bartelby the Butcher...

probably in the particles.dat file you need to turn off the glow effect, instead of 1 change the value to 0, but im not sure that the same particle effect is used exclusively for the sword of athena, in that case of course u'd get a change in all those things that use that special particle

Actually I had that idea to create Bartelby as a butcher, and Zim as an archer, but I never got the animations to show without crashing the game. Eventually I had to settle and created the executioner instead.

i've been busy with Christmas preps, this is choir director crunch time. But I remember others telling me they get much more beefed up particle effects than I do in general. perhaps the line number of particles in the particles.dat only goes as far as your system can handle. So while it may say 200 particles it doesn't actually do it if your system can't handle it. maybe this is why on my laptop with a basic video card you can see the blade. I'll play with it and get a reduced number of particles when I get some time.

And didn't I add fire damage to the athena?

About the reach on the swords, is the Anduril really that drastic? then so will some of the others as well. and the chaos can't break urns? geez travis didn't give much room to play with the attack radius did he? I'll have to make those changes but not till after our big Christmas service.

but i just downloaded mod man. and maestro's mod here...i believe i have it applied to mod man correctly how do i know for sure? will it show up on the version in the corner in the game? or can i purchase the weapons or are they a find only weapon?
I appreciate any help.

They can be purchased if you're deep enough. You could always use cheat console and see if you can cheat them. Use the search button to find out how to use the cheat console.

Yes, the mod should appear in the "Current Mods" window of ModMan. If so, it's been applied.

Yes, you can have multiple mods at the same time installed. Some players have installed over 50 mods without any problems.

i seem to notice with more and more mods, my loadup time increases.... anyone else notice this?

If you've a lot of mods installed, the game simply takes longer to load - nothing to be done.

I wouldn't install 50 mods at once, though. Install 3 or 4, play through an entire quest, then install 3 or 4 more etc. That way if anything is buggy you can isolate the culprit fairly easily.

As a general rule, I cheat up EVERYTHING in a mod at first just to see if it's working (and if I like it well enough to keep it installed). There's nothing more frustrating than having 50 mods installed and getting load locks that keep you trapped on a certain level. Then you have to restore all and go through the mods one by one to see which one is problematic.

When you get load locks moving down to a deeper level it means that the program is trying to generate a monster or item, or new dungeon and for some reason can't - it may be an old mod looking for files that have been renamed in later versions of Fate, or the mod might have a bug etc.

That's why I like to cheat up everything first. That's no guarantee you won't have problems later, but it certainly speeds up the process of isolating issues.

I also have a bug you need to fix : Icesword + Flamesword, they both look very weird when running, the blade gets left behind like its not keeping up, and when i noticed no speed bonus.....so yeah try and fix that, gets anoying

no fix for that i'm afraid. the nature of particles is that they don't follow the object the way that glows do. then I thought of trying to do an animated weapon, like the lightsabers in jedi, that would always be flaming but the ams format doesn't work with particles. So, I'm afraid you'll have to find a way to be happy with the sword as is, it is the best that I can do with what tools are available in fate.

Great job...I love the new swords! But how could I not huh, it was made by maestro. About the problem wit the ice/fire swords, couldnt there be a blade underneath to help hide the bug? BTW, didnt banryu shatter from Inuyasha's wind scar?

I'm certain it was the Backlash Wave + Banryu's demonic energy (Fireball?) that shattered it... I hate to be smart about it, so I appologize if I upset you in any way, magmon...

As for the Flameswords and Iceswords, I think they appear way too early in the game on Legend difficulty (Floor 4)... My FATE version of Kluke from Blue Dragon nearly died in one blow from an Exceptional Icesword equipped by a Goblin Scout boss. They're an easy way to get money by selling them at this point, too... This Icesword sold for over 445,000!

Nevertheless, this mod is, without a doubt, AWESOME! I'm glad you're enjoying it as well, magmon.

the icesword doesn't have a bug in that the blade trails behind the hilt, that is just the nature of particles in the fate engine, there is no way to change that. I specifically wanted the blade to be only particles so I don't think I'll change it. But if you think about it, a blade of pure fire or ice would do that. After you hit the enemy with the flame or icy vapor it would stick to the person and need to start again.

And as for the banryu, I guess that's why I didn't include the lame tetsusaiga in the mod, lol.

As for the legendary, this is the way that things go in legendary difficulty. Thing from lv 20+ start dropping at lv 1 this makes it much harder because the mosters are intense right off the bat but also rewarding since you get the gear you need faster. So yea you can sell the sword for a lot but you also have monster that could "ice" you with an ubersword early too.

I had the same issue with the iceswords in the early levels, but I believe the coding is fine just the way it is. I just had to keep my eyes peeled for monsters wielding those weapons. The web spell was my best friend in those instances.

yeah I use the deeper coding that I included. Those swords become near instant death in the hands of a devilkin. I love adding the danger to the game or it gets too boring. And it's edifying to see monsters trying to slice and dice me with my own creations :domokun:

my only stipulation about using my stuff is that a) you give me credit for the model and the mod it is from. cool.gif you have to do it excellently :wink: it's not just any model you're using :agreement: no lame mods using my models :ninja:

It looks really cool, but I have an issue with this mod... basically, the ice sword starts appearing way too early. (Nearly from level 1!) Monsters can one-hit kill me with it, and I'm still 30 or more strength points away from being able to equip it.

I cheated and equipped it, and now I can one-hit kill anything and everything. It's fun for a few minutes, then it ruins the game. :/

Maybe "deep delving" doesn't mean what I thought it means... is it assumed that one must cheat in order to be successful as a deep delver?

it has a minimum depth of 30, you must be in legendary difficulty. In legendary difficulty things appear MUCH sooner than normal which is what makes it rather difficult. Thus the many sudden death situations because monsters can weild weapons you wouldn't see until 1/2 way through the main quest when you'd have good armor and stats. The deadly nature of it is what make legendary fun.
I did make the swords a little more powerful than normal so that monsters would be more dangerous in general. Other swords that have min depth of 30 have a max damage of 30 whereas icesword is 50. If enough people feel this is a problem I could change it but in my own gameplay meeting up with my swords weilded by a monster is fun and dangerous.

deep delving=below level 100, usually with most people, 1000+ tongue.gif

a true deep delver has a goal of the bottom level.

and you can't possibly reach the bottom level unless you use the cheat console to descend you could play from now till the end of your life and not play 2 billion levels. the thing is you have to stop and quest for items on the way or you won't have the gear to handle deeper and deeper levels. so you dive see if you can handle it, quest for a few amazing items, dive again, if it's too much go up a little and quest for items, etc.
