What Alex Says:
I’m a huge Sudoku fan, and I’m also really picky about my game software. We've got several different Sudoku games at http://www.wildgames.com, so this time I've chosen Sudoku Quest to highlight. It’s easy to use, quick, and well designed, and I think it’s definitely the sort of game you might like. We also carry other Sudoku titles, for those of you that want to try something other than Sudoku Quest.
A few elements make Sudoku Quest stand out from the norm. First, you can play the game with just your number keys and your mouse. Left-clicking, like normal, lets you enter an answer into your game board. Using the right-clicking lets you enter a notation, commonly called pencil marking, into the game board, to help you track and solve more difficult puzzles. Finally, and the most important, the Easy mode is actually an Easy mode.
Since Sudoku puzzles can be so complex, it isn’t quite enough to just judge a puzzle to be easy. The most commonly accepted criterion that I’ve seen is that an Easy puzzle can be solved purely by scanning. Scanning is your most basic strategy, where you figure out what numbers eliminate what other numbers in what rows and columns, until you find a spot where a given number can only go into a given row. Since I prefer only doing Easy or Very Hard puzzles, this is important to me, because this criteria means that the difficulty of Easy puzzles is consistent.
I hope you’ll try Sudoku Quest, and I hope you’ll enjoy it.
