FATE uses a diminishing returns system to provide system balance, allowing high level players to keep pace with the lower dungeon levels without becoming so powerful as to render the game completely unchallenging.

Essentially, this means that each point you invest in a given skill gives you less of a benefit than the point you invested previously.

Several of the abilities, Dual Wield, Block & Critical Strike, and Spellcasting operate on their own algorithms, meaning that Block & Critical Strike improve at the same rate, but a different rate altogether than Dual Wield.

Here's an example of two of the skill sets:

Dual Wield Skill:

Left Hand Damage is Reduced by %:
500 / (20 + DUALWIELD)

Right Hand Damage is Reduced by %: (always simply twice left hand)
1000 / (20 + DUALWIELD)

Left Hand / Right Hand Damage starts at 75%/50% and asymptotically approaches 100%/100% (reaching 87.5%/75% at level 20).

Shield Battle Skill:

% Chance of Shield Blocking:
150 / (3 + 100 / SHIELD)
or
50% / (1 + 100/(3*SHIELD))
Starts at 0% and asymptotically approaches 50% (reaching 25.2% at level 34).


Critical Strike Skill:

% Chance of a Critical Strike:
150 / (3 + 100 / CRITICALSTRIKE)
or
50% / (1 + 100/(3*CRITICALSTRIKE))
Starts at 0% and asymptotically approaches 50% (reaching 25.2% at level 34).


Spell Casting Skill:

% Increase Casting Speed:
240 / (3 + 100 / SPELLCASTING)
or
80% / (1 + 100/(3*SPELLCASTING))
Starts at 0% and asymptotically approaches 80% (reaching 40.4% at level 34).

Could you please post all of the other Diminishing Returns "magic formulas"? Thanks!

This is a request for: Dual Wield Attack Speed Penalty, % Chance to Block, % Increase to Spell Casting Speed, % Increase to Attack Speed, % Increase to Movement Speed ... (also please clarify Damage Reduction, Damage Reflection, Magic Find, and the like, assuming that they use an asymptotic formula instead of simply linear addition up to a 75% cap).

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to say likely I can't. If I can, it'll require a programmer or someone familiar with the original design of the game, and it is kinda hard to get to them for use as a resource.
