I already know about the FAQ:
http://forum.wildgames.com/index.php?showt...mp;#entry128661

However, this is invalid on Vista Ultimate.
I purchased Fate the traitor soul at Best buy, my original fate folder is as follows:
C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Fate\Persistent\SAVE

There is no "c:\programdata" or even a "c:\program data" per the FAQ, I have no clue where to put the files for Fate the traitor soul to find them. I followed the FAQ step by step, otherwise I wouldn't be posting so skip that part.

When Fate the trator soul installed on my machine using DEFAULT settings, it setup as:
C:\Program Files\WildGames\FATE - The Traitor Soul

Which obviously is not mentioned in the FAQ
There is no "SAVE" folder in that sub folder so I also tried the following folder:
C:\Program Files\WildGames\Fate\Persistent\SAVE

That did no good, then I tried to do it as:
C:\Program Files\WildGames\Fate\SAVE

And that did no good, in all cases Fate The Traitor Soul can't find the save games for import, so ...help?

Why can't you have something simple like (Import: Browse to old Files) instead of us "guessing" where you are looking for them, obviously the version I buy off the shelf has no clue about any of these folders you are looking for, a simple "Browse to original game files" would be useful.

I already know about the FAQ ...

Ah but there is now a FAQ Table of Contents which has developing FAQs for all the Fate type games.

Open up the Fate: Undiscovered Realms FAQ or Fate: The Traitor Soul FAQ and do a search for 'IMPORT' and you should find what you need. If this doesn't help, you haven't reset your files and folders to be visible, i.e., not hidden.

Additionally, we have found that Fate: The Traitor Soul corresponds to WinXP settings even when using Vista.

I'm running vista ultimate 64.

The install disc pointed to;

C:\Program Files (x86)\WildGames\FATE - The Traitor Soul\

vista should have a folder called C:\ProgramData (invisible)

make sure that folder is not hidden.

you can paste it into your root directory C:

C:\ProgramData\WildTangent\fatethetraitorsoul

C:\ProgramData\WildTangent\fatethetraitorsoul\Persistent\SAVE\en-US
There is one more level called en-US, (after unhiding the folders), which of course is not in the FAQ, so most likely the published release that is on the shelf is different than the digital download maybe?
Even so, Import still doesn't work so if you just copy your .FFD files after renaming them with a _ infront (aka 0.FFD in old Fate game to _0.FFD) and just paste them into
C:\ProgramData\WildTangent\fatethetraitorsoul\Persistent\SAVE\en-US
Then run fate, your characters are all in the list.

So to simplify the FAQ:
Find *.FFD, copy from old SAVE folder into
C:\ProgramData\WildTangent\fatethetraitorsoul\Persistent\SAVE\en-US
after renaming to _#.FFD
Then it works.
Import does absolutely nothing.

Also running Vista but Premium 64 not Ultimate.
All I did was go to continue game and where it said import I clicked it and my current Fate list popped up, chose her and she came over just fine with pet and personal stash. I was not trying to unretire anyone or do anything fancy but with a live character it worked like a charm.
And she is still alive and well back in Fate too. Interesting.
