Full Version: Deleting Frozen Character Files

Alrighty, I haven't played Fate in awhile, and now I've started again with a BUNCH of new mods.

So some of my old characters don't work because I've removed say...a weapons mod containing a weapon they happen to be wielding...so if I click on the characters file on the 'Continue Game' screen, Fate crashes.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit and Fate v. 1.21b

It's a little annoying have 2 characters (IMO) cluttering the selection screen, so I'd like to locate the save files for the characters and delete them.

I realize that Mr. Sir's sticky details how to locate the files, but I believe that that may be for Windows XP and I can't seem to locate the necessary folders in AppData with my Vista.

P.S. Because I can't even highlight the character in the selection screen...So, it's not possible for me to select it and hit 'Delete Game.' So please don't tell me to do this wink.gif

Thanks in Advance,
Leniv

with vista there are 2 ways to do it. More than likely the files are hidden. I always found it easier to just search the computer for .FFD files, just make sure you use the advanced search, and change the Location to EVERYWHERE. After that,if you want, just create a little shortcut to take you to the save files for your convenience.

saved characters in vista are located;

C:\ProgramData\WildTangent\fateundiscoveredrealms\Persistent\SAVE\en-US

Heron: I'm play Fate Original by the way wink.gif

Mattdean76: There isn't a way to search for the specific file type .FFD and I tried doing the advanced, everywhere search even with '3.FFD', '.FFD', and '.ffd'

I've already set it to view hidden files and I set the search to search in hidden files etc. as well.

Any other ideas?

Well, at some point I managed to corrupt Fate (Oops rolleyes.gif ), and so I've gone ahead and re-installed it...

Thanks, JamesL I did manage to find the folder thanks to your guidance...I created a character and tested it and the .ffd showed up happy.gif

Thank you Heron too happy.gif I just didn't look towards your answer because of the Undiscovered Realms bit...I had the strange inkling that Fate and Fate:UR stored characters differently...looking at it now...I'm wrong tongue.gif
