I don't know the ring, amu, gloves etc., but attack mages DO own. I don't know about high levels but at least until level50 they'll be really good. It is something worth trying. Don't put any into defense/charm magic skill, just attack. Keep an extra staff with "+charm skill" so you can summon stuff with that instead of putting skill points into the charm skill. That's what I did and it works out great biggrin.gif

Do you have colossus boots on or just half plate?

Your signature picture wink.gif

which is bigger than most your posts, the dial up people probably hate that.

Can we back down the sig graphics? Us dialup folks are dying here...

We do.

I have split off the above posts from another topic for two reasons:
  1. They were off-topic to the discussion being carried out, and
  2. A valid complaint was being voiced.
It has been some time since I suffered with dial-up but I still remember logging off of some sites in total frustration because they took literally hours to load! I don't want to see this forum become that image heavy, so thought I would initiate a discussion on the merits of voluntarily limiting our signature images to something reasonable.

I think 128px by 64px would be a good place to start with. As the discussion progresses, we may find that a little larger would be OK or that even smaller night be desired.

Please try to keep personalities out of the discussion. Remember, most of us are adults and we need to set a good example for those who are not. wink.gif

Let the discussion begin, both pro and con!

He could just shrink the picture.

That was my idea and hope but we need to know what an appropriate size would be to shrink it to before he does. I'm hoping we can arrive at a consensus that everyone will be happy with so our Admins aren't forced to make an arbitrary decision.

if you use firefox or have an adblocker, just block the picture, so you wont see it.

Dial-up? *shudders* ... but there are still places where only dial-up is available. We should be considerate of those folk who have to use it.
I see no reason at all to have a picture in a signature. Back in the 'old days', the argument went "if we had avatars, we would not need pics in our sigs". We have avatars now but these big pics still show up from time to time.
I personally think that the 'moderator sigs' are about as big as a sig should be (though they are still are little too big for my taste and my sig would be smaller were I not a moderator).
Just my two bob's worth.

Gosh, no need to make such a fuss. All you have to do is ask sad.gif

Which is what we did. smile.gif Do you have any input (given the problem with dial-up members) about what you think would be a better size for sig graphics? Something that allows your creativity to show through yet still doesn't slow down the forum too much.

Bear in mind that if your sig image were a part of a normal post, it would only be displayed once and wouldn't be a problem. Larger images in posts have routinely been removed and replaced by text links where they stretch the forum or otherwise cause some kind of disruption.

Big. I don't mind 'em tongue.gif

Small, I do ... they detract from any ongoing discussion. The bigger they are the more room they take up, therefore the more they detract and distract.

Yours isn't too bad but how many of your posts can you display on a single page with the image in your sig as opposed to without?

Not always. My sig is actually larger than Semigall's but I would argue that mine possibly provides more useful information ...
