Alright so I bought the game Fate and it's on an old laptop, but I want to transfer the game to my new pc, what do I do?

And, since I don't remember the code, or have that email with it, is there anyway I can get that code from my laptop?

Yes, I am wondering the same thing, although I do believe I still have the activation code. I believe you need to transfer saved game files over, but I'm not sure where they are located. Can anyone help us? blink.gif

Q.) Can I transfer my character from one computer to another?

A.) Yes! (Thanks to BuggsBunny964):

Your character's file will be in an FFD format and will have a number before it. Something like 1.ffd, and it will be in the SAVE file in your game. You can usually find that under:
C:/ documents and settings/all users/app data/WildTangent/Fate/persistent/SAVE,

However, your Application Data file may be hidden - to view it you'll need to:
Click on the "Tools" menu,
Choose "Folder Options."
Click the "View" tab. A grey box with three sections will pop up. Go to the center section, about half way down, and find the option to view hidden files.
Click on the button next to "Show hidden files and folders." The App Data file will appear, somewhat faded, but just as usable as all the other files.

Now go from app data to Wild Tangent to Fate. Inside FATE are three files, Cache, Persistent, and PersistentScreenshots.

Inside Persistent you will find SAVE, All your characters are in there. They have a number and the .ffd extension.

Once you find it, simply copy it and paste it either into an e-mail attachment, a thumb drive, or a CD. From there just paste it in to the same directory in the other computer.

There are different folders for the save files depending upon the OS in use but that information is also listed. Hope you find everything you need! smile.gif

To address your second question (regarding your forgotten code), this can be looked up at any time by logging in to www.wildgames.com/myaccount. Once you're logged in, click the 'view purchase history/licenses' link to see all of your unlock codes.

[b]Hey there,
I have a problem, you seem to know what you are talking about with that fATE Q. that dude had, are you able to answer mine?
anyway, I downloaded a heap of games from the console, just the trial versions. I changed the 'Save location' onto my D: drive so if my computer crashed I would have them saved elsewhere instead of the default C:Programe files/Wildtangent ..... blah blah.
I have since reformatted my computer and would like to transfer those games into the console again, even if I've used up the trials and have to use my wildcoins to play them. Surely there must be a way to do this. All the files are the same as preloaded games and have already tried copying them into to Folder where preloaded games are but that didnt work. If you can help out I would be so grateful.
Cheers

I have a further question for Spock re: his post #3.
After installing Win 7 and reinstalling FATE, I have tried, using your instructions in post 3, showing the FAQ answer, to get my old character, who was at level 46, back. I did find the Persistant folder with the save and a 0.ffd (I think it was) sub file it it. these files were on the old.windows file created during the clean install of Win7 that I had to perform to get it to work more or les correctly(yes, Microsoft has such a great track record of flawless product releases).
The question is: where do I drop the save file .0ffd into the reistalled FATE folder? I do not see a Persistant file, and yes, I did do the show all files thing. When I place the save-0.ffd file into the new FATE folder, my character is still at base. I tried recreating tht character using the same name, hoping that if I did and saved/exited the Persistant folder would be created for me to us, but nope, didn't happen.
Any guidance would be appereciated, thanks.

I'm afraid I'm not the one to ask that question. If it happened to me, I would simply download the trial versions again. If they don't exist any more, you should probably click on the HELP button at the top of the page and send Customer Service an email. Make sure you get a reference number back so you know they received your email. Once they get it, they will do their best to help you ... and their best is a lot better than mine!

It may be that the Persistent folder is not even created until you create your first character. Try creating a character and then see if the folder is there. If so, you can then delete the newly created character and insert your old one.

BTW, I never liked the numbered file; 0.ffd, 1.ffd, etc. Once I create a character, I will go in and change the number to the characters name. That way I always know which file goes with which character. The game doesn't care what the files are names as long as they have the ffd extension.
