I started playing this really fun little game called Wizard 101. It has really good 3D effects and an interesting story line. It is designed for playing casually if you like. Check it out and post back here what you think of the game.

If you really want us to check it out, it would help if you would include a link to the game ... wink.gif

Such as: Wizard101

I'm not sure I will try it out. The premise looks good but you need to become a subscriber to access everything.

QUOTE
As a subscriber OR an access pass player, you will be able to play an important role in the full story of Wizard101.

A growing evil has crept over Wizard City and the other worlds of the Spiral. By upgrading from free to play to subscription OR access passes, you will be able to: 1) Complete Wizard City! 2) Earn the ability to travel to other worlds! 3) Text chat with friends/family! 4) Have more powerful spells, clothing, equipment, and pets!

Below are pictures of some of the places, equipment, clothing, and spells that are only available to subscribers OR access pass players!

A full subscription is $60/year for an individual or $6.95/month for a family plan. I might play for free for a short while to see what it's like but I refuse to "play-for-pay" as they are hoping as it just gets way too expensive. Plus there is no way to play if you are ot connected to the Internet.

All in all, a nice idea but I think I will pass. mellow.gif

I figured most people (including yourself) would be smart enough to figure out how to get there... why hold hands if you don't need to rolleyes.gif

Yes there is a pay portion, but the free part is huge and is long enough that most people will know if they like it enough to play the future worlds. Besides, WOW and LOTR are also pay to play without the free areas and people are willing to pay out the nose for them, so it doesn't make much sense to complain about the pay portion until you try it smile.gif.

Again, true as far as it goes but I object to online only games on principle. I refuse to play anything that I have to pay for that only allows online interaction. I tried the free intro to Guild Wars and enjoyed it but refuse to get something that will not allow me to continue playing it when they shut down their servers. Same goes for any number of other games.

I am currently playing Cabal which is similar to Wizard 101 in that it's free with a paid expansion available. I will probably continue to play it until I finally get my copy of S2. tongue.gif

GW is going strong and continues to grow every month, so you should play it without worring about the servers shutting down. LOTR and WOW are more likely to shut down before GW...

once I started playing LOTRO, no offense, but I could not go back to playing anything else. especially now that I'm part of a moderately sized kinship, and an alliance of 10 kinships to deal and play with, oh yea, we have a 12 man raid in an hour.. ok, got time. sure I pay about 50 cents a day for the server. and yes, they do shut the server down for maintenance, especially now after the huge expansion that just came out. they do take the server down during the mornings when the fewest players are affected, too bad that's my time to play since I work graveyard but hey, I know my shift is wierd. anyways, the interaction is great, the world is huge. I posted somewhere here about our new legendary weapons that level up just like characters and increase in stats which we can.....somewhat control. well, anyways LOTRO is great although I guess a MMO type game is not for everyone.

dude, the world would have to come to an end before wow shut down. i mean they only make a measly $200 mil a MONTH. Those kinda numbers i'm suprised they're still running it now..

Just out of curiosity, does that mean what I think it does, in that you never have to pay a monthly fee again? And how much did that cost?

that's exactly what it means,
it was $250 there abouts
really good deal
shoot, I think its a great deal and I don't even like the game,
I drop in every 3 weeks or so, play for 3 hours, try out a new char, complete a quest or 2 with my old char, realize I still don't like the game and log out
3 weeks or so later I try again

been doing that since june

If you aren't willing to pay, don't waste your time. I myself don't think it's worth a monthly prescription. The game is pretty much a trading card game with 3D graphics. It does indeed have some dazzling artwork, esp. on the attacks/summons.
Joreel
saltandpepper...

How far into the game did you play? By the way you describe it, I doesn't seem like you played very far because it's a lot more that a card trading game. I has a lot of depth and story once you start playig beyond the first few tutorials.
climber59
i like it. until i finished the tutorial it did seem like a tcg but its pretty fun. also what do you get if you pay the subscription? and what do pets do?
saltandpepper
I played for like a week. Ok, it's a card trading game with depth and a storyline.
