For a long absense, i am launching a mod once again.. All previous mods have been cancled.
Sadly, my computer had to get reformatted and i forgot every bit of my hard work. But that will be replaced.

I decided to create sheilds because of their simplistic shape and intricate designs. With concepts at hand, i will release a number of shield mods. This being my first edition. For now, i would like to present to you a preview of some of the shields. This mod will inclue a total of 10 shields and 3 bonus weapons ;]

I don't know... Can you make a circular shield with a star of david and a skull on it? Doesn't really matter...

thats simple, any pictures for refrences? colors? Textures? just name them

Okay. Here we go. I Just threw in the random blue and white.

Hope you like it. If you would like any changes before i finalize it please tell me :] I tried a circular loo kto it, it came out weird, so i added a hexagon!

haha i know weird mix, but the shield came out just right!

Im tryign to find a decent tutorial for animation and monster animation as well as armor modding. These are quite essential for thew new glows and affects im going to attach to the models. Also not to mention the animation im planning to attach to each of the shields.

I have an entire board of ideas on my desk right now, all i need are some tutorials. Thanks for the tutorial Maestro! You think i can get one with pictures?

Alright it's coming, or I just may try my hand at fraps and see if I can put a video together that would speak volumes more.

Bear in mind that when animating shields and things that are meant to be unskinned models, you have to use the ams format and include an animation.dat with it. Also very VERY important, you said glows, you CAN'T attach glows to weapons, it will crash the game if the item is equipped while changing levels (for a detailed, exhaustive discussion of this, do a search for the many places I, zeeman or heron have discussed this, and also read my particles tutorial)

glow weapons will not crash if you place them into your inventory every time you change floors.
it's a bit tedious though.

so if i added a flame particale to my shield. i can only put it in my inventory once every level otherwise itll crash?

I think particles and glows are different...

About the star of david and skull: just one of my random ideas. I have yet to find the perfect shield for my character (I already found the perfect sword, bow, staff, armor, etc). But your shield is AWESOME!

Although... I'd like it better if the color is red and gold, but of course I can change it myself if you don' have time. And if you can add demon horns and red eyes to the skull, that'll be great (those things I cannot do myself)...

Particles are fine. Just not glows. So if you point helper is called particle01 you're fine. If it is named glow01 it will crash--as heron said--if it is equipped when you switch floors. ie: flamesword works perfectly but lightsabers cause crashes.

That is fine. I can change the coloring to Red and Gold easily. Demon Horns shouldnt be a problem. Where can will i put them? Demon horns on the skull correct?

IDEA: Once i read the particles tutorial [yeaaa, i havent quite read any tutorials, because of my laziness except for a couple] i will add this so called "Particle01" and manipulate it as a glow affect for red eyes, OR i can just attach the flame particle in the game to create Burning Eyes of Hate biggrin.gif Because i like the fact of this deadly cult type of shield, ill try to find a way to apply a Deadly Night Shade type of fog affect illuminating around the shield.

Wait. Sooo... If i create it called "particle01" can i still make my own particle and manipulate it to act as a glow? Not naming it "glow01" but physically a glowish look.

Thanks for all the feed backs guys! As for Heron's Request. I made the shield, but i didnt qute like it. So im going to make the Donut Shiled in a way so it isnt just a typical Donut-Holed Shiled, since anyone can do that.
Any suggestions on how i can make the shiled look more unique and appealing?

Yeah finish reading the tutorial, don't make me reexplain it all, lol. name it particle# and then right click - properties - user defined tab - put the name of your custom particle there

Basically you can make a particle that "looks" like a glow I believe gleam is a particle that looks like a glow, but you can't get it to behave like a glow. Glows stick to the mesh no matter how it is waved around or how you move, particles trail behind. There is nothing you can do to change that, I repeat nothing, if you want an exhaustive explanation, search for my responses to others on this subject.

Ill print it out and read it. Its great tutorial, i appreciate the fact that you actually took the time to compile it. Impressive, i understand every bit of it, even without pictures, down to the nitty gritty details.

Woooot! I can now make shield models at the rate of 20 mins per model!
I have this great model which my cousin requested. He loved it! I hope you all will like it too. 3 More Models until edition one is released!

On the donut i think you should add chocolate coating on part of it and sprinkles. Also if you want one that doesnt have a hole in it make it a jelly donut. also evry time you mention it you say Donut Shiled when it should be shield but you may be doing it on purpose

Im having that put down. A jelly donut, that ill add, and of course with sprinkles. I'll try to add as many variations, to fit the users needs.

Sorry. I have trouble spelling shield sometime. I just recently found out its spelled Shield and not Sheild, old habit.

Thanks to maestro for helping me out on my Shields Black Skin caused by flipped meshes.

News: Well, first edition is almost out!! Buf first id like to show you something.

I have modified my shields so they can now be placed upon the hands of the user. Though there is a problem. When walking, the shield's mesh goes through the weilder's legs. Should i configure the animations to fit the game's gameplay? As of right now, it is only placed by using pivot points. Should create a shield animation rather than moving the pivot points?

If i dont create an animation, then only my shields will be placed on the hands whereas the game's shields will be positioned on the arm.

I can see this work. Retitling them as ArmShields and Shields. [Similar to armbands]

That would be a nice touch. Having two diferent kinds of shields implemented into the game. an Arm Shield and a Regular guard shield.

Guard would most lkely increase blocking and defense whereas Arm Shield increases Dex and movement speed since its supposed to be a small light weight shield like a theif.

As far as I know (which isn't much) you never carry a shield on your hand, you would break your fingers from a heavy blow. you always put your arm through it, or if you grip with your hand it goes on the side of the hand, not against the knuckles right? but anyway, it is a nice look, there's no need to overdo it with animation, nothing is perfect. No one is going to change their character animations to use a shield.

yea that does look weird holding the shield that way.
looks very bad like a mistake or something.

Well yea it does look weird. I was trying to aim a natural look as if the character is in a guarding stance.

You're right Maestro, you would put your arm through a loop in your shield, then grab onto a handle on the far side.

The shield I want looks like... The tower shield in game, but made of shining gold (shiny) and with a red dragon on it... That's pretty much it. The dragon should be something like... Wait, I have a picture for it...

Details are not important. I suggest you just give it a color fill of red and that'll be OK.
