More cool stuff heron, looks great!

I just wouldn't have used solid colors in the texture. Solid colors always look a bit too simple to me. But with the shadows that fall on the char, it might look just fine. The screenshot from the back certainly looks great.

I dunno, I kind of like the solid color...It could look good with like twisting lines going thru it tho, like a rug, on ur back!!

hey there, here's a screenshot of a couple of the capes in LOTRO, just for comparison, don't know the ramifications of using any of their patterns.....

the cape I'm wearing, the dwarf in the middle has on the highest level cape you can buy or create. it's normally all blue but I dyed mine red just to be differant. I would guess the guy with the arrow cape is mid level. and the person to the right has a cape with no pattern but the cape and hood are connected so a differant look.

One idea for the capes is to make an alpha layer, like in the wings, so that it would be possible to make an old cape with jagged, torn edges.

wow man this is a keeper, I love it!! the cape is attached perfectly, there's no overlap with the leg mesh. I think the icons and textures are cool too.

I'd say to reduce the size occupied in the inventory but actually the gloves occupy the same amount of space and those could easily be folded too (I wonder where these rpg guys put all that stuff???)

Maybe in a later version you could put the gloved and not gloved versions together and make either of them unique items, or something like that, after all each file occupies roughly only 7kb's, you have no problem regarding file size.

thanks apricottwist. yea it took trial and error on rigging the cape to the bones correctly. i think it turned out pretty good. and yes i will consider combining the two versions into one.

jester , i was wondering if you want to produce that transparency map then maybe i can import it into max. i know thats your area of expertise.

wow, you're a genius heron the animation is so smooth (i may have to do a redesign *shudder* no I can't look at my cape any longer). I think this was made to go with my armor, the perfect compliment. Really good work on this one.

thanks! glad you like it so much , lol. makes the whole project seemed worthwhile after getting feedback from the community.

i know how it feels to get stuck with something then going back to fix it. but sometimes you have to do it and in the end its kind of rewarding. so never throw in the towel. smile.gif
